The last week or so, we finally nailed down our moving plans and started to get everything in order for a smooth transition. As I posted last week, we put together our hospital and diaper bag just to have everything ready before packing for the move! I would hate to have to scramble later on to search for much needed items. We stopped at Lowe’s to stock up on boxes and bubble wrap; we are so ready to move into our new house!
This week, I also finished the quilted blanket I’ve been working on for baby Ski! I found a tutorial to make this “quilt” on SeeKateSew; she has some amazing baby DIY projects on her blog. This is how I found out about spoonflower.com fabric and how you can design your own prints, or use a custom design already created. I adapted my own tutorial for this project; you can see it here.
This fabric is soon-to-be made into a Boppy cover! I’m not crazy about the ones I’ve seen in the store, so I found a tutorial to make my own! This will be my first time sewing in zippers, so we will see how it turns out. Depending on how it goes, tutorial will be up on my blog shortly after!
On Sunday, we finished up our nursery shopping with a drive up to the Tempe Ikea! This was my hubby’s first time there, so of course we spent no less than 3 or 4 hours in the store! We found the perfect shag rug, as well as a simple wooden dresser that we are going to stain a dark honey chestnut. The rest were odds and ends that will really pull the room together. Earlier in the week, our final Amazon orders arrived with our crib, mattress, and glider. To be honest, I was a little skeptical about ordering these online rather than in person, but I was pleasantly surprised at the quality of what arrived! We assembled the chair, but left the rest in boxes (that are now sitting in our dining room, spare bathroom, and bedroom). Moving day can’t come soon enough; I can’t wait to put together baby Ski’s nursery!
In the theme of planning ahead and getting things ready, Minted sent us samples of birth announcements! I’ve been browsing their site, and gathering addresses to make it as easy as possible after the baby arrives. Honestly, there’s way too many cute announcements to pick from!
These next couple weeks should be plenty busy for our little family; luckily my energy has kept up (besides this awful cold I’ve been battling) so the excitement has only been building up for baby Ski to make his appearance! While this has been a nice little break from training for Crossfit or bodybuilding, I’ve been missing the gym a lot lately. Exercising of any sort hasn’t worked out the last couple weeks, so I’ve resorted to taking Lilo on walks around the complex; she hasn’t minded one bit!
